La Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 riunisce in un corpo compatto e portatile le funzioni delle grandi telecamere da studio, per produzioni professionali con regie video dotate di switcher SDI. Rispetto alla Studio Camera 6K Pro, questo modello non utilizza un sensore Super 35 né un attacco EF: adotta invece un sensore cinematografico 4/3 con gamma dinamica di 13 stop e attacco Micro 4/3 attivo. Gli obiettivi compatibili possono offrire controllo di diaframma, fuoco e zoom, con autofocus disponibile quando previsto dall'obiettivo.
La connettività comprende ingressi e uscite 12G-SDI per il ritorno programma con controllo della telecamera, tally e talkback, oltre a un'uscita HDMI con funzioni di controllo. I due ingressi audio XLR professionali possono essere configurati per livello microfonico o linea e supportano l'alimentazione Phantom; sono presenti anche un ingresso stereo da 3,5 mm e uscite dedicate per talkback e cuffie con microfono. La porta Ethernet da 10 Gb/s trasporta video, ritorno, Time Code, tally, talkback e controllo su un unico cavo, per un flusso di lavoro in stile SMPTE più pratico ed economico.
Il display LCD HDR da 7 pollici ad alta luminosità mantiene una visione chiara anche con condizioni di luce difficili. La registrazione può essere effettuata direttamente su supporti USB-C in Blackmagic RAW, con formattazione ExFAT o HFS+. La telecamera supporta inoltre lo streaming live diretto tramite RTMP su Ethernet oppure tramite una connessione Internet mobile condivisa via USB-C. Gli ambiti indicati sono gli studi televisivi e le produzioni live di alto livello.
